World History AP Modern is in its second year after a course redesign by the College Board that went into effect in 2019. WHAP focuses on a global approach to studying historical events from 1200 CE to the present. We begin our course with Period 0 which covers events prior to 1200 including the world's ancient and classical civilizations.

In additional to studying historical events, we will also develop a variety of historical thinking skills (HTS). We will focus on making connections as well as crafting historical arguments. The goal is not only to prepare for the AP Exam (which provides an opportunity to earn college credit), but to master skills that can be used in future course work.

WHAP will offer multiple opportunities for collaboration and project-based learning, as well as opportunities to practice the stimulus-based multiple-choice questions (SBMC), short-answer questions (SAQ), long-essay questions (LEQ), and document-based questions (DBQ), which all appear on the AP Exam.
